A stalled engine running cold while your labs still read normal.

You came in describing six things that are seemingly unrelated. Your hands and feet are cold most of the time, your energy is low in the afternoon, your hair is shedding more than in the past, your gut isn’t moving as it should, and you wake up feeling unrested. You took your blood tests, but they came back fine.

You might think the problem is willpower or discipline, but you have one problem dressed in six different ways.

Section 3 · The Framework Underneath

Why a normal TSH can sit on top of a cold body.

Most of your active thyroid hormone is not what your gland releases. The gland mostly puts out the storage form, T4, and your liver and tissues convert that into the active form, T3, in a second step that runs on the deiodinase enzymes. That conversion is its own private number. It depends on cofactors, on how much stress chemistry is circulating, and on the raw material your diet supplies, and it does not show up on the one marker a standard panel checks. So your TSH can read 2.4, comfortably inside range, while the hormone that decides how warm you run is not landing in your tissues.

Section 4 · Your Protocol

Priority 1: Feed the conversion step before anything else.

What to do.
Add a salted carbohydrate to your first meal and a second to your last, and bring in the conversion cofactors your pattern is most likely short on. The specific foods, doses, and order are in Section 7.
Why this, for you.
The conversion from storage to active hormone is the bottleneck in your case, and it is substrate-dependent and stress-sensitive. Lowering the stress load and supplying the raw material is what lets that second step run. It is why your morning cold and your afternoon flatness are the same problem.
What to watch for.
Within two to three weeks your waking temperature should begin climbing toward the 36.6 to 36.8 range, and the afternoon crash should soften first. If it has not moved at all by week four, the conversion read is not the right one for your body and we change course at the recalibration. That is the test built into the plan.
